South County Potable Transmission Main

The South County Potable Water Transmission Main is a major component of Hillsborough County’s One Water Program, developed to strengthen drinking water infrastructure and support continued growth throughout southern Hillsborough County.

The project included the fast-tracked design, permitting and construction of approximately 10.5 miles of 42- and 48-inch water transmission main. The new infrastructure helps address water pressure and demand, adds redundancy to the distribution system and expands the County’s ability to reliably serve growing communities throughout South County.

Delivered through a progressive design-build approach, the project brought together Hillsborough County, Westra Construction and McKim & Creed along with additional engineering partners to coordinate design and construction across a complex, large-scale pipeline corridor.

I documented the project in my full-time capacity as Multimedia Specialist at McKim & Creed, capturing photography and video of construction, field operations and the people behind the work. The resulting imagery helped visually communicate both the scale of the infrastructure and the work required to deliver one of the foundational projects within Hillsborough County’s broader One Water Program.
